The bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen was donated in December 12th, 1991 by Pro. Cao Chongen, a famous Chinese sculptor born in Lingshan. He carved this statue in memory of the 80th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution. Dr. Sun was a great patriot. How could the statue of him stand here? Has he ever been to Lingshan? These questions always come to tourists’ mind. Actually the story can date back to the year of 1907, when Sun Yat-sen launched the southern uprising. He appointed Wang Heshun as the military governor of the southern branch of Chinese revolutionary army, leading the disciples from Qinzhou, Lianzhou, Lingshan and Fangcheng to fight fiercely against Qing Government here，for three days and nights. Although they failed for being outnumbered by the Qing Government, Lingshan people showed great respect for them. In honor of this history, therefore, here stands the statue of Dr. Sun.
